Hello TYL Parents,
My Name is Gina Bowman I am a TYL parent to Braidon on U9 White as well as Michael on U13A. Besides the excitement of Lacrosse, my boys and I share another passion and that is to FIGHT BACK against Cancer through the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY’S SIGNATURE EVENT, THE RELAY FOR LIFE! We walk in honor of my Mom, Katie who lost her short battle 10 years ago this month to Lung Cancer, the team name is Katie's Cardinals.
Relay For Life is an overnight event held at Northern Essex Community College where teams come together to CELEBRATE, REMEMBER, FIGHT BACK! During the event over 1000 participants join in Ceremonies, activities, entertainment to include a 24 hour DJ! I would also like to add that there is over 290 Relays throughout New England and each one is very personal and organized by volunteers from their community. We/ I know each and everyone of my team captains and even know most of their stories.
My son Michael has been wanting to form a Lacrosse Team for many years made up of his team mates and call it "La X out cancer"! This sounded like an overwhelming task. When I learned of Coaches vs. Cancer I thought this would be a great opportunity to introduce the families to the event and see what level of interest and support he would receive.
With that said I ask that you please take the time to read the attachment laying out an upcoming day of home games that will be dedicated to the Relay For Life of Haverhill. Please respond with any questions, comments and feedback and keep in mind that we are still working out all the details. I thank you in advance for your support!
I would like to thank Gary Sherman and the coaches for supporting Coaches Vs. Cancer and finding it important to work as a team to FIGHT BACK!
